Welcome letter for the Mt. Adams District Collaborative Group
Saturday, 12 June 2004

October 14, 2008

Dear

You are cordially invited to attend a meeting of a newly-formed collaborative group for the Mt. Adams Ranger District on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest on October 30th at 1pm at Rock Creek Center in Stevenson, WA.

Collaborative groups are a vehicle by which diverse community members, businesses, interested organizations and agencies involved with natural resources work together to develop projects beneficial to the Forest and surrounding communities. They play an important role in the development of stewardship projects and contracts on National Forest lands. Collaborative groups provide valued input to the Forest Service in determining lands to be treated, types of activities to be conducted, and the scope of these activities. Increasingly, input from collaborative groups is desired in traditional timber sales as well.

A core group met previously to determine interest in forming a collaborative group. At the October 30th meeting, this group will explain types of stewardship projects envisioned and introduce a proposed draft mission statement. Additionally, we want to learn the types of projects that other participants can suggest. We will also compile email addresses of interested parties, plus set the date and agenda for the next meeting.

The formation of a collaborative group for the Mt. Adams Ranger District is essential for accomplishing a variety of projects on the National Forest with end results including forest products, habitat restoration, and increased forest health and safety. It is a process by which the community, various advocacy groups and timber industry can be involved in activities on the Forest.

If you are interested in being involved with this group but cannot attend this meeting, let us know and your name will be added to an email list to receive notification of upcoming meetings. If you know of someone else who may be interested in this collaborative effort, please feel free to invite them. Please contact me with any questions you may have.

Thank you,

Jamie Tolfree

Yesterday all servers in the U.S. went out on strike in a bid to get more RAM and better CPUs. A spokes person said that the need for better RAM was due to some fool increasing the front-side bus speed. In future, busses will be told to slow down in residential motherboards.
